KELLY & JEFF ENGAGEMENTS

KELLY & JEFF ENGAGEMENTS

So, I had such a good experience shooting this engagement session. But I was devastated when I found that it wasn’t received as good as I hoped it would be. I guess it was one of my first shoots that wasn’t loved by a client. I’m not writing this to get your pity, but I just want to empower other photogs to keep pushing through the criticism. Photography is such a subjective field. It is all based on opinion. It’s not like sports where you know who is the winner at the end of a game and one team goes home with a trophy and the other team leaves without. It is art and it can be either received or rejected based on the viewer’s opinion. So yeah, it was heartbreaking when this one wasn’t received as I had hoped, but it didn’t ruin me because I remembered this truth: you can still be good and not everyone will love your work. That’s just how photography and creative fields are. So just keep pushing through the criticism and keep believing in yourself even if you don’t feel like anyone else does.
